                           Beau Wilson Biography

Beau Wilson, 18, was killed by Farmington police, who confronted him shortly after 11 a.m. Monday, Deputy Police Chief Kyle Dowdy told reporters.

Three elderly women, including a 97-year-old mother and her daughter, were identified by police Tuesday as the slain victims at the hands of New Mexico teen gunman Beau Wilson.

The 18-year-old, armed with three handguns, fired indiscriminately as he walked down a quarter-mile stretch of the town of Farmington Monday morning, killing Gwendolyn Schofield, her 73-year-old daughter, Melody Ivie, and the 79 year old. -Old Shirley Voita, the police said.

Six others, including two police officers, were injured in the shooting before the police officers killed Wilson.

Police believe the violence was “purely random” and that Wilson did not know any of his victims.

“The amount of violence and brutality these people faced is inconceivable to me,” Farmington Deputy Police Chief Kyle Dowdy said at a news conference.

“I don’t care how old you are, I don’t care what else is going on in your life, killing three innocent old ladies who were absolutely in no position to defend themselves will always be a tragedy.”

Officials are still working to determine a motive for Wilson’s mass murder in his own neighborhood near Four Corners, where New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado meet.

Beau Wilson opened fire on at least nine people on Monday, killing three, before he was fatally shot by police.

Dowdy said the riot started at 10:56 a.m. and the threat was neutralized just 10 minutes later.

The Farmington High School student fired at least 150 rounds, though officials expect the number of shell casings discovered to increase dramatically as the investigation continues.

Video footage

Video footage showed Wilson, dressed in black, pacing the church’s driveway holding what appeared to be a handgun with an extended high-capacity magazine before he was killed.

Wilson used three weapons during the rampage: an “assault-style rifle” he bought legally in November shortly after his 18th birthday, and two other weapons belonging to family members.

Although several houses were hit by bullets, Wilson was targeting vehicles: all but the two wounded officers were hit while driving through the area.

Farmington officer Rachel Discenza delivered the fatal shot to Wilson, who simultaneously exchanged a bullet.

The teen had a history of minor infractions, Dowdy said, but nothing that “came up on our radar.”

Officers also believe that Wilson was suffering from some type of mental health issue.

The shooting is still under investigation and police expect to continue releasing information and body camera footage in the coming days.
