Who is Becci Rees-Hughes ?
A woman found murdered in her £120,000 home was named before her suspected killer was killed in a car crash while being chased by police.
Humberside police say Becci Rees-Hughes was discovered on her Beverley property around 6 a.m. of Monday.
Thirty minutes later, a man detectives were trying to track down in connection with the murder was seen in a car and forcibly chased away.
He crashed into a transit van, dying instantly at the scene.
Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Alan Curtis said: “Our thoughts are with Becci’s family at this very difficult time.”
Investigation
“While our investigations continue into Becci’s murder, at this time, we do not believe we are looking for anyone else in connection with her death.
The car was later seen by police officers on the B1230 between Seaton and Hornsea and a short police chase was secured.
“The Polo collided with another vehicle, a Ford Transit van, around 6:30 a.m.
‘The driver of the Polo was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man driving the Ford Transit van was taken to the hospital with serious, life-changing injuries and remains in the hospital at this time.
“As there was a police chase, the incident was referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct for independent review.
Family
“The woman’s family has been informed of her death and the investigation into her murder and is receiving support from specially trained officers.
“The man’s family have also been informed of his death and specially trained officers are in contact with them to offer support.”
