Kevin Bradley was identified as the person killed Monday, Cruz said in a news release. He said that Bradley had been pronounced dead at the scene.

A 65-year-old New Jersey man has been identified as the person who died in the accident Monday morning at the Hingham Apple store, according to District Attorney Tim Cruz.

“Preliminarily, the investigation found that the male driver of a 2019 Toyota 4Runner crashed through the front glass of the Apple Store. The driver is not being identified at this time,” the statement said.

Bradley was reportedly a “professional who was on site supporting recent construction at the store,” Apple said in a statement, according to the Boston Globe and Boston 25 News.

A dark-colored SUV injured 17 people and killed one person inside and outside the store around 10:45 a.m. Monday morning, Cruz said. The vehicle traveled from the front of the store to the rear, trapping people against the wall, authorities said.

“We are devastated by the shocking events on Apple Derby Street today and the tragic loss of a professional who was on site supporting recent construction at the store. Our hearts go out to our team members and customers who were injured and all those who were affected by this terrible incident. We are doing everything we can to support our team members and customers during this very difficult time,” a spokesperson for the tech giant told the news outlet.

Dr. Jason Tracy, chairman of Emergency Medicine at South Shore Hospital, said the hospital had to call in additional surgeons and support staff to treat the 17 people injured in the crash, but the hospital had the Adequate staff and was able to handle the number of patients given the time of day and available staff.

The driver of the van that went through the glass storefront was not among the 17 people transported to the hospital, nor was the person who died in the crash, Cruz said at an earlier news conference.

Cruz had previously said there were 16 people injured in the crash, but the hospital said they received one patient who came to the hospital from the incident, bringing the total number of injuries to 17.

Hospital officials said during the news conference that the injuries included head trauma and “shattered limbs.” They also said that among the victims were patients with chronic illnesses that made treatment difficult.

The Apple store sits in the outer right corner of the plaza between a Brandy Melville clothing store and Burton’s Grille.

The Hanover Fire Department originally posted on Facebook that the crash on Derby St. had happened just before 11 a.m. Monday morning, leaving multiple injured and trapped. The department shared an image of the scene, which depicted a massive hole smashed through the glass siding of the Apple store.
