Richard Allen Biography
Police have arrested the man they believe killed two Indiana teenagers five years ago, according to a report.
Richard Allen, 50, was booked and jailed Friday in connection with the 2017 slayings of 13-year-old Abigail “Abby” Williams and 14-year-old Liberty “Libby” German, multiple sources told WTTV.
Indiana law enforcement sources told the outlet that a major development was in the works in the murder case, but did not confirm the identity of the suspect.
“Today is the day,” Kelsi German, Libby’s sister, tweeted Friday. A news conference is tentatively scheduled for Monday, she said.
Abby and Libby’s murders have gone unsolved since their bodies were found in 2017.
The girls had disappeared on the afternoon of February 13, Indiana State Police said. They had been dropped off near the Monon High Bridge in Delphi to walk on their own, but hadn’t shown up to be picked up at the pre-arranged time.
Prior to her disappearance, Libby posted a photo on Snapchat of Abby walking across a railway bridge, marking the last time any of the girls were seen alive.
Their bodies were found the next day in a wooded area about a half-mile north of where they were left, police said.
In the course of the investigation, police discovered an audio clip Libby took that fateful afternoon in which a man can be heard saying “downhill.”
Police have hunted down multiple suspects over the years, including a man arrested for involvement in the Jan. 6 attack on Capitol Hill.
Officials are also investigating a fake Snapchat and Instagram account that had been interacting with Libby at the time she and Abby were killed. The catfish, known as “anthony_shots”, claimed to be a wealthy male model.
